The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will get underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 31 with the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) taking on MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the opener. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is mulling over organising an opening ceremony for the T20 league for the first time since COVID-19 pandemic.
The IPL will return to the ‘home-and-away’ format as well after the pandemic this year with the 10 teams divided into two groups for the 70 league fixtures. According to a report on Insidesport website, actresses Rashmika Mandanna and Tamannaah Bhatia will be performing in the IPL 2023 opening ceremony and will add to the glam factor of the occasion.
The excitement for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is at its highest as the T20 extravaganza is all set to take over the cricketing fraternity. The upcoming season is expected to bring the old IPL vibe back as it will take place in the traditional ‘home and away’ format for the first time since 2019.
To add to the exhilaration of fans, the tournament will mark its beginning with an opening ceremony ahead of the curtain raiser game between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings on March 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. While the game is set to begin at 7:30 PM, the opening ceremony will commence at 6:00 PM IST.
The razzmatazz of an IPL opening ceremony is known to everyone and this year as well several stars will be performing at the event to enthral fans from all over the world. The authorities confirmed the stars of the openign ceremony on their official Twitter handle as actors Rashmika Mandhana and Tamannaah Bhatia will be performing at the grand event while singer Arijit Singh will also mark his presence to serenade the fans.

Jamieson, who will not be part of the 16th IPL season due to an injury, was bought by the franchise for INR 1 crore. CSK announced South Africa pacer Sisanda Magala as a replacement.

In the allotted 20 overs, Mumbai Indians scored 127 runs while losing ten wickets. Issy Wong came in second with 32 runs, trailing only Hayley Matthews with 35. Earlier, UP Warriorz chose to field after winning the toss.

The Englishmen said he received a mail from the Mumbai franchise and it has been passed on to the England medical staff. His workload will be monitored carefully as after a long testing IPL season Archer’s body will be put to test again with the five-match Ashes Test series against Australia.
